The 2face22 is a unique new offering from The Tube Amp Factory. It was developed because we firmly believe that high gain amps should still be able to deliver proper clean tones. Thus, an all new preamp circuit was developed that allows the 2face22 to saturate and overdrive with bigger, modern high gain heads, but with the gain dialed back, it can deliver awesome, classic, clean tube tones without the need for a separate channel.
The resulting amp is everything one would expect from Tube Amp Factory, and more. Simple design and responsive controls make this an amp that wants to be played, rather than something to figure out how to use. A new modular preamp design also means that its construction is simplified, and allows The Tube Amp Factory to continue pursuing one of its founding principles: Quality, hand-made, all tube amplifiers should be accessible to the people that want to play them.
Loosely based on the popular taf-14R, the 2face22 features a twin 6V6 push-pull power section, which lends a unique color to the tones from this low-watt, high-gain amp compared to others in the segment which tend toward EL84 power. The preamp features 3 12AX7 tubes, with a fourth in the inverter/driver stage. Also unlike many of its competitors, the 2face22 features a proper three-knob tone control, and a presence control, instead of an oversimplified "tone" control that heavily attenuates low or high frequencies depending on where it's pointed. Around the back, a single speaker output jack pairs with a selector switch to make it play nice with any 4, 8, or 16 ohm speaker from a single 10" to a 4x12 or two.
The goal was to make something for everyone, every budget, every skill level, and every taste. The 2face22 has the flexible tone and the powerful presence to do just that.
